Osceola Story

Osceola, WI, is a historic gem nestled in the St. Croix River Valley. Established in 1844, the village’s name honors Seminole leader Osceola, reflecting the era’s fascination with Native American culture. Osceola’s early prosperity hinged on its water-powered mills, harnessing the Cascade Falls’ energy to produce flour and lumber. By the 1880s, Osceola was a bustling hub, its mills among the region’s most productive, contributing significantly to Wisconsin’s standing as a leading lumber state. The arrival of the railroad in 1887 further fueled growth, bringing new businesses and elegant homes. Today, Osceola’s rich history is commemorated through annual events, attracting visitors to its charming historic Downtown, and the mesmerizing Cascade Falls.
